Radio-based Laser Detector Module (RLDM)

The RLDM is a multi-functional self-contained unit used to receive laser threats from CVTESS, AAWSS, and TESS projectors and communicate them to the VHI for audio/visual hit signature generation during the exercises. The RLDM communicates with other RLDMs and the Vehicle Hit Indicator (VHI) via the short-range radio. Exercise data received by the RLDM is passed to the VHI for storage and download by the UCG for after action review.

The function of an RLDM is to make an area of a target vulnerable to threats from coded laser beams shot from weapons simulators. Thus a large target will have a number of RLDMs mounted on it. No wiring is necessary.

Although typically placed on the vehicles, RLDMs can be attached to any targets (e.g. building, bunker, etc.) to provide vulnerability to the target from transmitter laser beam fire.
