Land Mines Effect Simulation (LMESS)

The LMESS mine simulators are simulators, not mines, to provide training in mine clearance and destruction. The mine simulators do not contravene the International Convention Banning Landmines (ICBL).

The CDNZ Land Mine Effects Simulation System (LMESS) integrates with the CDNZ Tactical Engagement Simulation System (TESS) and the Combat Vehicle TESS system (CVTESS) to provide a realistic simulation of anti-personnel landmines, anti-vehicle landmines and demolition blocks in the battlefield.

The LMESS system comprises of:

As part of the exercise events data, the RF signals emitted by the 'detonated' LMESS simulators are recorded by the manworn harnesses and vehicle hit indicators and using an umpire control gun transferred to a Combat Analysis System for after action review. Or, if used in the Combat Training Centre (CTC) application, exercise data is transferred to the EXCON in real-time.
