Exercise Control Centre (ECC)

The Exercise Control consists, in principle, of two functional components: a communications and data collection component and a component for processing, presentation and evaluation.

The communications/collection component receives data from the exercise field through the Player Units carried by personnel and vehicles optional instrumented O/C equipped with field computers and registers the radio communications traffic on the tactical radio net.

Exercise Control Centre (EXCON) evaluates all incoming data to produce informative presentations of the ongoing exercise and generate meaningful after action reviews (AAR). Results for various functions can be merged in EXCON such as direct fire, indirect fire, field incidents (mines), GPS locations, etc. Additionally, replay is made in a computer-generated landscape and on maps that offer important analysis tools together with reports and the O/C judgements.

EXCON receives data from and sends data to players in the field, and displays it in real-time on screen, along with map/ location information, to provide a situation display for exercise controllers and observers.

EXCON also provides for the collection and presentation of data, including tactical radio nets, for After Action Review and Take Home Package.

The Exercise Control Centre (ECC) and AAR facility is housed in an expandable container (see below) with deployable AAR unit for debriefing carried through in fixed buildings. The EXCON consists of networked PCs and workstations connected to an ECC server and the Comms Station. Also included is an optional Graphics Station. These are housed in an expandable container (with a truck needed for transportation).

Software Functions
The EXCON uses Microsoft Windows NT (4.0 or later) as the operative system and Microsoft SQL Server (7.0) to manage the database. EXCON software is customised to the requirements of the customers. The following figure is an example of EXCON software configuration and functions:

Expandable Mobile Container
The Exercise Control Centre can be housed in a fully fitted expandable 20' 3 in 1 container, which is semi mobile. (The CTC system does not include the vehicles used for transportation; the vehicles used for transportation are in-service vehicles). The Expandable Container is a sealed environment and fully capable of passing all normal conditions. The Container comes equipped with a removable generator and optional air conditioner and heating systems.
